IEEE SB ASIET conducted a Distinguished Lecture Programme on Radiation Detection for International Borders on 26th April 2019. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Richard T. Kouzes, a Laboratory Fellow at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) working in the areas of neutrino science (Majorana, SNO and SAGE), neutron and gamma ray detection, homeland security, and non-proliferation. Dr. Richard discussed various types of radiation, its effects and the disasters that happened over the past 3 decades after giving a brief account on recent inventions. He brought the attention of the participants to the challenges in this field and later on he spoke on the radiation emissions in international borders and why it had to be a subject of concern.
